Silence, a lovable fawn and Boris, a fierce but misunderstood bear, will make “Silence Is Golden,” a favorite amongst children of all ages. The illustrations are superbly sketched and illustrate that pictures do speak louder than words. When Silence enters terrible Boris’s domain, she makes a startling discovery: Boris is blind! She takes it upon herself to win over his love by bargaining a compromise: If Boris would cease his frightening roaring, Silence would teach him to survive in the darkness of your life: “Boris, if you’ll let me, I’ll help you. I will show you how and where to fish, where to dig for roots and grubs to eat, and I’m willing to be your friend. I know it’s said that ‘seeing is believing,’ but in your case you’ll have to trust me when I say I can help you. But, there is one catch. I will only help you if you promise never to let out that awful roar.” The agreement worked until a wayward hunter’s bullet almost takes Silence’s life. It is then that Boris realizes that a cuddle, along with a murmur, could soothe his friend, as it always does with all of God’s creatures. Throughout this story, Aristotle, a wiseacre owl who observes the unfolding friendship, splashes wisdom at every opportunity. He closes by saying: “Now at the end of a big-time day, this hooter has one thing more to say. Set aside your worries and fears tonight, And waking tomorrow will be a delight.” Silence Is Golden is also available in Spanish, French and German translations.  Write the author for further information. A narrated version by the author with voice modulation and musical accompaniment is also available on a CD for perpetual enjoyment. blue divider Silence Is Golden - children story book cover Subject: JUVENILE FICTION / Animals / General Book Format: Portrait 8.5 x 11   Age Level: 8 - 99 Currently, a comb bound 8 1/2” x 11” version of this book or a fully narrated CD is available only through the author.  The book will be autographed and can be personally inscribed with a message if you include the message with the order.  If you are ordering more than one book and/or CD (same title or a variety) direct from Arley, e-mail him FIRST.  He will send you an e-mail from Pay Pal with the correct shipping costs.  If you just use the Pay Pal button below, shipping is charged for each book.  For more information about Pay Pal, and ordering, be sure to review the “order” page.
