Illusionists, with special lighting, atmosphere and audience mindset, have demonstrated
the ability to make things disappear. But, when it happens in the presence of private
investigators Stan Stanton and his partner, it is truly magic of the highest order.
Stan Stanton and Sandra Hawkins, guests aboard the luxurious Orient Express Rail
Train, are front-row witnesses to a shoot-out and kidnapping of a Saudi Arabian prince.
As described in Chapter Three, when a power failure causes total darkness aboard the
train and forces it to stop inside a tunnel . . .
No sooner had I spoken than we heard shouting coming from both ends of the dining car.
It sounded like Arabic with a lot of screaming attached to it. Then all hell broke loose.
Gunfire flashed from both ends of the car, followed by the sounds of glass breaking and
people running wildly through the aisle. My first reflex was to shout to Sandra, “Quick,
get below the table!” I immediately smothered her body with mine as I tried to protect her
from the flying bullets.
How is it possible for a Saudi prince to disappear from a blood-spattered luxury train in a
tunnel where all exits are visible? Since Stan and Sandra are witnesses to the
happening, they get involved and work with an attractive female Italian detective, Michela
di Pagana, to solve the mystery.
With tempting love less than a half-step away, Stan works side by side with the
voluptuous detective Pagana to rescue the prince and capture the extortionists. But the
plot thickens, as our hero reveals in Chapter Eight . . .
